Biografia: Bob Dylan.
Bob Dylan, nato col nome di Robert Allen Zimmerman, (Duluth, 24 maggio 1941), è un cantautore e compositore statunitense. Distintosi anche come scrittore, poeta, pittore, attore e conduttore radiofonico, è una delle più importanti figure degli ultimi cinquant'anni nel campo musicale, in quello della cultura popolare e, secondo molti, della letteratura.[2]. La maggior parte delle sue canzoni più conosciute risale agli anni sessanta, quando l'artista si è posto come figura chiave del movement, il movimento di protesta americano. Canzoni come Blowin' in the Wind e The Times They Are A-Changin'[3] sono diventate gli inni dei movimenti pacifisti e per i diritti civili.
Pseudonimi
Dylan ha spesso adottato in carriera diversi pseudonimi: Elston Gunnn, Blind Boy Grunt, Lucky Wilbury/Boo Wilbury, Elmer Johnson, Sergei Petrov, Jack Frost, Jack Fate, Willow Scarlet, Robert Milkwood Thomas, Tedham Porterhouse.
I testi delle sue prime canzoni affrontano temi politici, sociali e filosofici, e risentono di influenze letterarie, sfidando le convenzioni della musica pop e appellandosi alla controcultura del tempo.
Nel corso degli anni Dylan ha ampliato e personalizzato il suo stile musicale arrivando a toccare molti generi diversi come folk, country/blues, gospel, rock and roll, rockabilly, jazz e swing, ed anche musica popolare inglese, scozzese ed irlandese[4][5].
Assimilabile agli artisti di genere burlesque, Dylan si esibisce suonando chitarra, tastiera e armonica a bocca. Supportato da un gruppo di musicisti in continuo cambiamento, è in tournée dagli anni ottanta in quello che è chiamato Never Ending Tour.
Ha anche suonato con molti grandi artisti, tra cui John Fogerty, The Band, Tom Petty, Joan Baez, George Harrison, The Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris, Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Jack White, Merle Haggard, Jeff Lynne, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, The Byrds, Roger McGuinn, Ramblin' Jack Elliott e Stevie Nicks.
Benché i risultati come interprete di dischi e dal vivo costituiscano il nerbo della sua carriera, è la scrittura delle canzoni a essere generalmente considerata il suo più grande contributo.[6]
Dylan è stato premiato più volte. I suoi album hanno ricevuto Grammy Award, Golden Globe e Academy Awards, ed egli è stato incluso nella Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, nella Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame e nella Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Nel 1999 è stato inserito dal TIME tra le cento più influenti personalità del XX secolo e nel 2004 è stato classificato come il secondo più grande artista rock di tutti i tempi dalla rivista Rolling Stone, preceduto dai Beatles.[7]
Il suo album Modern Times, pubblicato il 29 agosto 2006 è stato nominato Album dell'Anno dalla rivista Rolling Stone[8].
Nel gennaio 1990 il ministro della cultura francese Jack Lang lo ha nominato Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres, nel 2000 è stato insignito del Polar Music Prize dalla Accademia Reale svedese di musica[9] e nel 2007 del Premio Principe delle Asturie.
È stato proposto più volte per il Premio Nobel per la Letteratura[10][11][12] ed è stato insignito del premio Pulitzer alla carriera nel 2008.
