| La notizia è di quelle che fanno sbottare i fedelissimi di Nintendo e riguarda uno dei personaggi più illustri del panorama videoludico: Super Mario.
Durante un'intervista rilasciata al magazine online kikizo.com, Ryan Schneider, esponente di Insomniac creatrice dei vari Ratchet & Clank, ha precisato come le avventure del famoso lombax siano state spesso fonte di ispirazione per film cinematografici e per altri videogiochi.
Tra le citazioni di plagio spicca l'ultima creazione di Miyamoto: i mondi sferici di Super Mario Galaxy sarebbero stati ripresi da Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando e Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. La cosa fa sorridere Ryan Schneider che ritiene lusinghiero l'aver ispirato uno dei mostri sacri del game designing (Shigeru Miyamoto per l'appunto).
Inutile sottolineare che le dichiarazioni del Marketing Director di Insomniac Games hanno scatenato un vero e proprio caso nell'universo Nintendo che da sempre fa dell'originalità delle proprie idee un cavallo di battaglia.
In calce riportiamo il passo dell'intevista che ha destato tanto scalpore tra i fans dell'idraulico più famoso della rete:
Kikizo: You’ve said that some inspiration is taken from games and movies, but have you found influences of Ratchet in other games?
Ryan Schneider: Yeah, I think that it’s flattering… well OK, first of all, there was a PlayStation 2 game which I won’t name, that was more or less a direct rip-off of Ratchet and Clank. There’s evidence all around us I think, of certain games that have borrowed from Ratchet and Clank. One that we’re even extremely flattered by is Super Mario Galaxy, with their spherical worlds; we did spherical worlds in Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal. It would be amazing to think that Miyamoto-san thought that was so cool that he wanted to incorporate it into Mario Galaxy. Granted, he’s doing it in a different way, but it’s still a spherical world, so it’s flattering to see those sorts of things.
